labyrinth

The Labyrinth

Please be aware that our labyrinth is centuries old, and is considered one of the world’s last remaining original plant labyrinths, as such is very delicate and we require your cooperation in preserving it for the enjoyment of future generations.

All guests may enter the Labyrinth’s middle tower (unless stated otherwise at the time of your visit). However, an additional ticket is required to access the Labyrinth’s main path to enable its ongoing maintenance and preservation (click here to purchase).

The Labyrinth’s main path is open (unless stated otherwise at the time of your visit) from 11:00/11:30 until 13:00 and also from 15:00 until one hour prior to the garden closing on Saturday, Sunday and holidays. During weekdays the Labyrinth’s main path is accessible during the same hours, but only via request at the ticket counter, found at the garden main entrance.

When visiting the labyrinth, please:

1. Only follow the designated routes, beginning at the official start point of the Labyrinth path (clearly signposted)

2. Do not run or jump within the labyrinth, including during emergencies

3. Try to avoid as much as possible brushing against the boxwood hedges

4. Pay close attention to exposed trunks and branches of the boxwood hedges, avoiding bumping them

5. Do not cut-through or climb on the boxwood hedges

6. Ensure all backpacks, shoulder bags and handbags are worn front-facing

7. Do not use umbrellas in the labyrinth, including when accessing the middle tower

9. Pay close attention to all signage, following instructions where directed

Unfortunately we cannot permit access to the labyrinth with strollers, buggies, pushchairs, mobility scooters (or similar) or wheelchairs.

Please note, it is possible that due to weather conditions or urgently required maintenance access to the Labyrinth that will not always be possible. Whilst we strive to ensure access is available at all times, in order to protect the Labyrinth we occasionally prevent access. This is typically decided on-the-day and as such there is a small chance that during your visit access to the Labyrinth will not be possible, even with a ticket purchased in advance. In this situation, you will be entitled to a full and immediate refund will be available from the main entrance with a valid ticket confirmation, provided in cash, or, in the form of alternatives goods/services available at the time of your visit.
