Please, pay close attention to our regulation (click HERE to consult the GARDEN REGULATIONS) because this seventeenth-century garden is considered, of its kind, one of the most important artistic monuments in the world, but, like all ancient works of art IT IS VERY DELICATE. In particular, we ask for special cooperation from parents in supervising their youngsters by making them understand that this is not a playground, but an environment that cannot support their normal and, in other circumstances, fine youthful exuberance…PLEASE IS It is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN to throw pebbles or stones into the fishponds/water areas of the garden, pay close attention to your children/teenagers in compliance with the rules…thanks for your kind and indispensable collaboration.

A SPECIAL THANK YOU
to the many visitors who again this year
have chosen to visit the Valsanzibio Monumental Garden
and in doing so taking part in its preservation.
THANK YOU
for the beautiful phrases you have left in the book of dedications.
Knowing that this place excites after 360 years is a great satisfaction for all the staff, and repays the hard work necessary to protect a historic and unique asset like this.
2026 will be an important year for the Monumental Garden of Valsanzibio, which just over a year ago has completed the extraordinary works thanks to the European Fund dedicated to Historic Gardens won with the highest score in all of Italy. Among the most important things done thanks to the PNRR funds are: the restoration and cleaning of most of the over 60 Istrian stone statues by Merengo and the most important fountains designed by Luigi Bernini; the repaving of all paths and boulevards with Euganean trachyte gravel to protect the delicate soil from trampling; the planting of new plants to replace plants that have fallen or died in recent years; the introduction of new signage to make it easier to read this very important garden, considered the most important allegorical/symbolic garden in the world; the introduction of drones to help fertilize and treat the botanical heritage of Valsanzibio; the installation of a modern irrigation system; the introduction of modern water collection bags, so as to store water during rainy moments and release it into the garden during dry periods of the year. Furthermore, with the restoration of the Fountain of the Deceptions, also known as the Fountain of the Water Games or the Putto, an exceptional discovery was made. The sculpture of the putto in the fountain of the same name, thought to be made of Istrian stone and attributed to the sculptor Enrico Merengo until 2023, like all 60+ other statues in the garden, was discovered to be made of white Carrara marble, attributed to the Bernini workshop and, most likely, to the great Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
Here are some photos after the restoration…
