Dogs are not permitted in the Valsanzibio Monumental Garden, but an exception is made for non-aggressive, SMALL dogs (up to approximately 8 kg). In fact, due to past problems with ill-mannered dogs, or rather, with ill-mannered owners (the poor dog’s only fault was having a rude owner!), the regulations now stipulate that only SMALL dogs are permitted in the Valsanzibio Monumental Garden. This isn’t because we believe small dog owners are better behaved than larger ones, but because we hope that poorly behaved small dogs can cause less damage than their larger counterparts. Sometimes the ticket office also allows small-to-medium sized dogs (up to approximately 15 kg) to enter, but these decisions can only be made by the ticket office once they are in front of your four-legged friend.
If your dog is allowed to visit the garden, please pay close attention to the following:
– FOR THE ENTIRE DURATION OF THE VISIT, THE DOG MUST REMAIN ON A LEASH (and/or carrier or backpack/bag) AT ALL TIMES;
– The leash must not be too long, and the dog must remain close to its owner;
– It is FORBIDDEN to enter the 17th-century labyrinth with your dog. You may only go up to the raised turret to view it from above, and to reach the turret, you must carry your dog (once on the turret, the dog can be put back down);
– If your dog needs to urinate, the owner must clean up the mess with the bag provided from home (the bag containing the waste must be taken away or left at the entrance/exit of the garden);
– For male dogs, try to prevent them from urinating on the boxwoods and/or other valuable shrubs, for obvious reasons;
– Please try to keep your dog’s barking to a minimum, to respect the peace of the environment and other guests visiting the historic garden.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND understanding and indispensable cooperation. Enjoy your visit with your best friend.
PS: in case your dog cannot access the garden, we would like to point out that near the ticket office, inside the ‘Botanic’ garden (sector of the Valsanzibio Monumental Garden), we have a fenced area where you can leave your dog. The dog cannot be left unattended, but a member of the visiting people must remain with him. Alternatively, it is possible to organize a ‘dog sitting’ service. If you are interested in this service you will need to contact us indicating the day of the visit and the arrival time to organize yourself with the ‘dog sitter’. The cost for this service will be quoted upon booking and varies from € 8,0 to € 10,0 per hour based on the day of the visit (weekdays, weekends or holidays) and the availability of the ‘dog sitter’.
