The Fisheries Boulevard, ‘The Decumano’ or ‘The Water Theater’ extends from East to West crossing in the center of the garden the Main Boulevard or ‘The Cardo’.  These two Boulevards represent the two main axis of the monumental garden and, following the Bernini’ project, reproduce the plan of a roman city (the roman Urbe).  The three fisheries that form this boulevard are from East to West:  the Fishery of the River or ‘Diane Bath’, the Fishery of the Wind and the Fishery of the Red Fishes or the Martinengo’s Fishery.

The third fishpond, the Martinengo’s Fishery, although it completes the Water Boulevard, the Decumanus, is not part of Bernini’s original project, but replaces a lawn with a central flowerbed made of flowers and boxwoods which depicted the coat of arms of the Barbarigo family. Around 1830, after the Barbarigo family had become extinct and Valsanzibio had passed into the hands of the Martinengo family, the Barbarigo coat of arms was removed and this third fishpond was introduced.
