The Main Boulevard, or ‘The Cardo’, extends from North to South crossing in the center of the garden The Fisheries Boulevard (the ‘Water Theater’ or the ‘Decumano’). These two Boulevards represent the two main axis of the monumental garden and, following the Bernini’ project, reproduce the plan of a roman city (the roman Urbe). This spectacular view is the same one that in 1679 was admired by the architect of Versailles (André Le Nôtre), when he came to Valsanzibio as a guest of Antonio Barbarigo, and it is the one that probably gave him the inspiration to create, many time bigger, the majestic Boulevard in the garden of the Sun King…it is also for this reason that the garden of Valsanzibio is called ‘The small Versailles’, but, may be, it would be more appropriate to call the garden of Versailles ‘The big Valsanzibio’!
