Molto probabilmente, sono stati ispirati e suggeriti dai due fratelli Barbarigo, il Cardinale Gregorio ed il Procuratore di San Marco Antonio.<\/p>\n<p>Quasi tutte le oltre 60 statue ed altrettante sculture minori sono in pietra d&#8217;Istria ed in gran parte opera del Merengo, scultore tedesco della Vestfalia (Heinrich Meyring) molto attivo a Venezia negli anni 1679-1714.<\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;unica statua non in pietra d&#8217;Istria \u00e8 il putto della Fontana delle Insidie o del Putto o degli Scherzi d&#8217;Acqua.&nbsp; Questa statua, che raffigura un bel putto che tiene una cesta di fiori e frutta sulla propria testa ricciuta, dopo la recente pulizia da quasi 400 anni di accumulo di calcare, \u00e8 risultata in marmo bianco di Carrara e attribuita alla bottega dei Bernini, forse addirittura al grande Gian Lorenzo.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row bklyn_overlay=&#8221;true&#8221;
